Astro
In his early days, Astro favored lettering and "wildstyle," a highly complex graffiti style in which the letters are intricate. He later moved toward an abstract expression that blends curves, geometry, and calligraphy. Inspired by artists such as Hartung, Vasarely, and Mucha, Astro evolved within a universe whose contours he himself defined. Through his technique, his play of shadows, and his sense of perspective, Astro creates works where optical illusion reigns supreme, true contemporary trompe l'oeils. He prints his work on walls and canvases, as well as on stretch film (cellophane), using a new technique called "CelloGraff," which he created in 2006 with the artist Kanos.
